How the Medication Intake Tracker Works
Keeping a written or digital log of every dose you take helps avoid accidental double-dosing and gives you an honest view of whether you take your medicine according to your doctor’s directions.
Unlike automated phone apps that assume you took a pill simply because an alarm went off, this tool requires conscious confirmation. You mark each scheduled dose as:
- Taken: You actually ingested the medication. The exact timestamp is recorded.
- Skipped: You intentionally skipped the dose (for instance, following instructions prior to surgery or after consulting a doctor).
- Missed: The scheduled time passed and you forgot or were unable to take the medication.
Understanding the Adherence Percentage
Medication adherence measures how closely you follow your prescribed regimen. The adherence percentage in this tracker is calculated transparently as:
Adherence (%) = [ Confirmed Taken Doses ÷ (Taken + Skipped + Missed) ] × 100
Sharing your adherence log with your doctor or pharmacist can help explain why a treatment is or isn’t working, without guessing or relying entirely on memory.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this tool automatically mark doses as taken when a timer rings?
No. For safety and accuracy, doses must be manually confirmed and marked as Taken, Skipped, or Missed by you.
Is my medication intake history sent to a server?
No. All medication logs and adherence calculations are stored purely in your browser's local storage. No health data leaves your device.
How is the adherence percentage calculated?
Adherence is calculated as the number of confirmed "Taken" doses divided by the total number of logged dose events (Taken + Skipped + Missed), expressed as a percentage.
Can I export my dose history for my doctor?
Yes. You can export your full medication intake history as a CSV spreadsheet or print a clean summary directly from your browser.
